Purley Food Hub

You might think that an affluent area like Purley would have little need for a food bank. Think again.

The Purley Food Hub has been running since January 2013, and in that time has provided more than 60,000 meals. Demand for the service shows no sign of abating.

The Food Hub is part of the national food bank network and is resourced and run by Purley and Kenley Churches Together, a group of a dozen local churches which includes OLLBC.

Two food collection sessions are held each week at Purley United Reformed Church (between the Pear Tree Pub and Purley Hospital), on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10 am and 12 noon.

You can find out more at the Food Hub website and also at the St James’ Church Riddlesdown site, which features the excellent HUBnews newsletter.
